Lars Saabye Christensen (born 21 September 1953) is a Norwegianmarker author.

Among his most noted work are the novels Beatles (1984) and Halvbroren (The Half Brother in English) (2001). Born in Oslomarker, his debut was in 1976 with the poem collection Historien om Gly, but he released a poem collection, named Grønt lys (Green light), when he was 19 years. Among other notable books by this author, is Herman, Gutten Som Ville Være En Av Gutta, Maskeblomstfamilien and Modellen.

He has been the recipient of a number of awards, including the The Nordic Council's Literature Prize for his book The Halfbrother in 2002. This book was also shortlisted for the 2005 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. He was awarded the "Chevalier dans L’ordre des Arts et Lettres" (Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature) by the Frenchmarker Government; the award was presented by the French Minister of Culture and Communications in April, 2008.

He is a member of the Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature.
