| 1. | Komakech, Richard | June 26 | 1994 | Kampala |
Uganda | F | Killed by the father of one of his victims. | After a young girl refused to dance with him at a wedding party
on the outskirts of Kampala, Richard Komakech, a private with
Ugandan's military police, began rioting and was expelled from the
festivities. The drunken man fetched his gun, returned and started
shooting at the guests. 26 people were killed, among them the girl
who had refused to dance with him, before he turned the gun on
himself. Suffering only wounds to the forehead, police tried to
prevent the guests from lynching him, but the father of the dead
girl managed to break through the police cordon and killed the man
by smashing his skull. Sources: – Rocky Mountain News (June 28, 1994) – Soldier kills 14, then turns gun on himself, The New Straits Times (June 28, 1994) (p.23) – Amokläufer tötet 26 Gäste einer Hochzeitsfeier, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (June 28, 1994) |
