Situation

The village is situated on a hillside above the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canalmarker and the River Uskmarker, some 4 miles west of Abergavennymarker. It is usually known as Llanelly Hill. The church [70359] is dedicated to St. Elli.

History

The parish is part of the principal area of Monmouthshire, but before local government reorganisation in 1996, the village was in the district of Blaenau Gwent, but the electors overwhelmingly voted to be transferred out of it.
