The gallery, while collaborating with artists, regularly invites designers to present their work. It incites them to put forward their projects and research, going beyond the utilitarian and formal.

History

The Lucy Mackintosh gallery opened in Lausannemarker in 2004 in premises previously occupied by the EPFLmarker architecture department. The architecture studio Jean-Gilles Décosterd & Philippe Rahm designed the contemporary art exhibition space starting from the concept of the "white canvas" for the refurbishing of the gallery.

In 2005, the gallery was featured in the exhibition Can Buildings Curate[693144] by Newbetter [693145] and the Architectural Association School of Architecturemarker for the way the space was refurbished:"The architect's response to an existing space and the brief for a contemporary artgallery was to create territories using thermal distortions rather than partitions.Elaborate plumbing runs through the main space, whose temperature can be attenuated according to the gallery function. What could be more neutral than white? Air." (Shumon Basar, Parag Sharma and Joshua Bolchover)

Projects

In parallel to exhibitions of artists represented by the gallery, group shows and collaborative projects are presented in collaboration with institutions or independent curators.
