"
Make It Easy On Yourself" is a
popular song written by
Burt
Bacharach and
Hal David.
Written in 1962 and originally intended for
Dionne Warwick, it was instead offered to
Jerry Butler whose version
went to number eighteen on the R&B singles and peaked at number
twenty on the
Billboard Hot 100. .
Warwick's disappointed reaction to having the song go to Butler,
was later fashioned by Bacharach and David into her first
single, "
Don't Make Me Over", which became
Warwick's first
hit single, reaching #21
on the
Billboard chart.
