Polish First Lady - Maria Kaczyńska
Maria Kaczyńska (born Maria Mackiewicz in 1943, Machów) is the wife of Lech Kaczyński, the current President of Polandmarker. Maria Kaczyńska attended primary and secondary schools in Rabka Zdrójmarker in southern Polandmarker. She studied transport economics and foreign trade in Sopotmarker. After graduating in 1966, she worked at the Maritime Institute in Gdańskmarker, where she met six years younger Lech Kaczyński in 1976. She married him in 1978. They have a daughter, Marta, born in 1980. Maria Kaczyńska speaks English, French and some Spanish and Russian.

Family

She is daughter of Lidia and Czesław Mackiewicz. She comes from a patriotic Polish family from the Vilnius region in Lithuania. Her father fought in the Vilniusmarker Armia Krajowa, while one of his brothers fought in the Polish II Corps of Gen. Władysław Anders at Battle of Monte Cassinomarker; another brother was murdered by the NKVD at Katyńmarker.
