Martin Meichelbeck (born 21
November 1976 in Bamberg
, West Germany
) is a German
footballer who plays for SpVgg Greuther Fürth. He is
usually playing central or left defender.
Youth
Meichelbeck is born in Bamberg
(Franconia). His first football club was FC
Baunach (till 1992). He played one season in the youth team of
professional club
1. FC Nuremberg (1992–93). The next clubs were
1. FC Bamberg (1993–1996) and Jahn Forchheim (1996–1998).
SpVgg Greuther Fürth
The professional career of Meichelbeck started at
Second Bundesliga Club
SpVgg Greuther Fürth in 1998. At
this point he decided to start a professional football career. (He
was still studying Medicine till that time) Meichelbeck played for
SpVgg Greuther Fürth till
2000.
VfL Bochum
In 2000 Meichelbeck moved to
VfL Bochum.
He got the number 3, a number he is still wearing. Meichelbeck is
the player who has played the most matches for
VfL Bochum in the 2007–08 squad. Highlights of
this period are his two
UEFA Cup matches
with
VfL Bochum against
Standard Liege and one match with the
"WM-Team 2006" of the
German national football team
(a team that was formed to give young, talentful players the
opportunity to get experience on international level). He also
relegated and promoted twice with his club. In his professional
career Meichelbeck has gotten only one red card yet.
