Meaux is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne

the Île-de-France

metropolitan area of Paris

is located east-northeast from the
center
of Paris. Meaux is a
sub-prefecture of the department and the seat
of an
arondissement. Although it is the most populous
commune in the Seine-et-Marne, it is not the capital, which is
Melun.

book, he petitioned for a post office to be created in Meaux.
History
Meaux was the capital of the ancient
Gaulish
tribe of the
Meldi.
