Michael W. "Mickey" York is an American television sports reporter and host for Fox Sports Detroit.

York is originally from Lake Orion, Michiganmarker. He moved from Mount Clemensmarker during his junior year at Lutheran High School North.

Education

A 6-foot-5, 240-pound tackle, he captained his high school football team as a senior, walked on at Central Michigan, noted the size of the other guys and quickly walked right off. He graduated from Central Michigan Universitymarker with a degree in public speaking. He is also married with two children.

Mickey York is also an alumni member of The Gamma Lambda Chapter (Central Michigan University) of The Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity

Broadcasting

In 2000 York was hired by Fox Sports Detroit to be a reporter for their new Detroit Sports Report. He served in that role for 3 years until 2003 lead anchor Marc Soicher left for FSN Rocky Mountain to be the lead anchor on the Rocky Mountain Sports Report and York became the new anchor of the show.

Before that he spent 4 years as sports anchor/reporter at WEYI-TVmarker (NBC 25), serving the Michigan cities of Flint, Saginawmarker and Bay City. He was also formerly a reporter/producer on Detroit Pistons projects for Palace Sports and Entertainment.

Roles

His special roles include being the lead anchor in the studio of during the NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, NCAA World Series, and Detroit's hosting of the Ryder Cup, MLB All-Star Game and Super Bowl XL.

He also has worked as a sideline reporter on Fox Sports Detroit's coverage of the Michigan High School Athletic Association basketball and football championships.
