Mike O'Donnell (born March 10, 1952) is an English film and TV composer and bass guitarist.

His main claim to fame was co-writing the scores for the children's TV series Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends (between 1984 and 2003) and TUGS, and the score for the movies That Summer of White Roses, Merlin: The True Story of Magic and October 32nd with Junior Campbell.

Together the two have written lots of Thomas songs such as "Thomas We Love You", "Really Useful Engine", "It's Great to Be an Engine", "Accidents Will Happen", "Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining" and "Down by the Docks".

At some point O'Donnell and Campbell signed to the same publisher, and their partnership sparked.

They have also collaborated on writing television jingles, which continued after leaving their bands.

O'Donnell started his career at The Beatles Apple Studios where his love for music grew stronger after some memorable sessions with several famous singers.

He also joined a band called Gold with ex-Jonesy members Jamie Kaleth and Richard Thomas and guitarist Martin Lawrence who, despite having few hits, sold a number of singles such as "Stay with Me My Love" and "Paradise".

He lives in Surreymarker with his wife Barbara and has one daughter, Sian and one son, Ben.
