Mithradates V (150-120BC) was King of Pontus, an ancient Hellenistic kingdom in Anatoliamarker in the 2nd century BC. Because of his short reign, little is known of him, though his contemporaries marked him with great potential. He died suddenly in his capital at Sinope in 120BC. It is possible he was assassinated by his wife Laodice, who ruled until the ascendancy of their son Mithridates VI of Pontus, who became known as Mithradates the Great.
