Mohammad Mayeli Kohan ( , born 5 June 1953 in Bandar-e Anzalimarker) is a retired Iranianmarker football player and now coach.

Coaching career

He was also manager of Iran national football team for 2 years, he was assigned as the new coach of Iran National football team in 7 April 2009 replacing Ali Daei who had been sacked a week earlier and was released on 21 April 2009.

When Mayelikohan was appointed as the Iranian U21 headcoach, When the team was in Kuala lampor, he made he whole team walk from their hotel to the stadium, while they wore black shirts and were hitting themselves in the head all the way to the stadium, for the Ashoora Tasooa of Imam Hussein. Iran U21 won that game 2-1.

While getting ready for Iran U21 home game against Korea Rep. , Mayelikohan saw Amirhosein Sadeghi, play poker in his hotelroom and decided to kick Sadeghi our of Iran U21 squad and sent him home from the hotelcamp of the Iranian U21 team hotel in Tehran.

Later in 2009 , when Mayelikohan became the Iranian national team head coach, in a live sport show, he said, every player with plucked eyebrows or trimmed beard will be forced to play with the Iranian women national team.

2009 controversy

Saipa F.C.'s last minute goal against Esteghlal F.C. in a game held in April 2009, threatened Esteghlal's chance of winning the Iranian title. After the game, because of fan clashes between the two teams and fan insults towards Mayeli Kohan and his family, Mayeli Kohan sent a letter to Esteghlal manager Amir Ghalenoei which reportedly included harsh references to Ghalenoei's height, facial appearance and background. As a result, an angered Ghalenoei, along several other Esteghlal players and officials including Fabio Januario, Farhad Majidi and Arash Borhani, stormed the IRIFF headquarters demanding an action to be made against Mayeli Kohan. In 2009, IRIFF enforced Mayeli Kohan's resignation.

After Mayelikohan's resignation from the Iranian national team, he was called to the Iranian football federation discipline committee to explain his rude words he used in a letter towards the Esteghlal Tehran coach, Amir Ghalenoei. once he started to explain why he did that, he started to hit the table in front of him harder and harder while he was crying and told them he felt sorry for himself, when Esteghlal spectators insulted him and his family that day.

When Mayelikohan was appointed as Saipa FC's headcoach in the Iranian football league, and after one of Saipa's games, when one of the reporters asked him abute his great winning streak with Saipa 4 games in a row, Mayelikohan started to cry and couldn't give the reporter any answer.
