States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of
1.6 square miles (4.1 km²), of which, 1.5 square
miles (3.9 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles
(0.2 km²) of it (4.40%) is water.
Demographics

census of 2000, there were 2,248
people, 867 households, and 578 families residing in the town. The
population density was 1,485.3
people per square mile (574.8/km²). There were 948 housing units at
an average density of 626.4/sq mi (242.4/km²). The racial

alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size
was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the town the population was spread out with 27.4% under the age
of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to
64, and 19.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was
39 years. For every 100 females there were 85.5 males. For every
100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.3 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $27,917, and the
median income for a family was $37,105. Males had a median income
of $29,219 versus $23,348 for females. The
