Mstislav Romanovich the Old (Мстислав Романович Старый in Russian) (? - 1223), Prince of Pskovmarker (1179 - ?), Smolenskmarker (1197 - ?), Belgorodmarker (1206), Halychmarker (? - ?) and Grand Prince of Kievmarker (1212-1223). Son of Roman Rostislavich.

Mstislav went to war against the Mongols of Genghis Khan in 1223 and was defeated at the Battle of the Kalka Rivermarker by the Mongol generals, Jebe and Subutai, after which he was executed by suffocation (put under a giant wooden plate onto which Subutai, Jebe and other Mongol warlords danced and feasted).
