Mtsensk ( ) is a town in Oryol Oblast, Russiamarker, located on the Zusha Rivermarker (Oka's tributary) north-east of Oryolmarker. It stands on the MoscowmarkerSimferopolmarker highway. Population: 28,000 (1970).

The settlement of Mtsensk was first mentioned in 1147 under the name of Mchensk ( ) of the Principality of Chernigov in Ipatievo Chronicles. In 1320, Mtsensk was annexed by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In the early 16th century, it became a part of the Russian state. It obtained the status of town in 1778.

There is a country-house museum of Ivan Turgenev called Spasskoye-Lutovinovo some ten kilometers north of Mtsensk.
