Newman Wachs Racing (also referred to as NWR) is an auto racing team that competes in the Atlantic Championship. It is owned by Eddie Wachs and, until his death, Paul Newman. NWR is based outside of Chicago in Mundelein, Illinoismarker. The team founders, Paul Newman and Eddie Wachs, met when they both competed in Can-Am series in the mid-1970s. Over the years the pair talked about joining forces to create their own driver development race team. That moment came in 2005 when the pair agreed the format of the Atlantic division met their objectives. Brian Halahan is the Team Manager and Don Halliday is the Chief Engineer. In 2009, John Edwards won the Atlantic Championship and his teammate Jonathan Summerton finished in a first place tiebreaker in which Edwards won.
