Newstead Village is a small village in Nottinghamshiremarker, Englandmarker. It is situated between Nottinghammarker and Mansfieldmarker in the Borough of Gedlingmarker. It is a former mining town. It was previously called Newstead Colliery Village.Lord Byron the poet and notorious hedonist lived at nearby Newstead Abbeymarker.Newstead is part of Nottinghamshire's Hidden Valleysmarker area.

Newstead Village was created as home for workers at the nearby Newstead Colliery. The former mining location has now been redeveloped into a nature reserve and a business park. Hazelford Way industrial estate which stands on the former mine is home to several large companies including Bunches Florapost, Badgemaster and Leivers & Millership.

There is one school in the village, Newstead Primary School which is a state run primary school for children aged 5-11.

The village is on the Robin Hood Line rail link that runs from Nottinghammarker to Worksopmarker.
