North Hertfordshire is a local government district in Hertfordshiremarker, Englandmarker. Its council is based in Letchworthmarker.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 by the amalgamation of the urban districts of Baldockmarker, Hitchinmarker, Letchworthmarker, and Roystonmarker and the Hitchin Rural Districtmarker.

From eastward clockwise, it borders the districts of East Hertfordshiremarker, Stevenagemarker, Welwyn Hatfieldmarker, St Albansmarker in Hertfordshire, Central Bedfordshire, Lutonmarker, Central Bedfordshire again, and South Cambridgeshiremarker.
