A parasitic cone (or satellite cone) is the cone-shaped accumulation of volcanic material created by eruptions from fractures other than the central vent of a volcano.

An example of parasitic cone is Mount Scottmarker, which is the "parasite" of Mount Mazamamarker in Crater Lake National Parkmarker, Oregonmarker, USAmarker.

Another great example of a parasitic cone is Shastinamarker, that looks like it is growing off the side of Mount Shastamarker.
