A
Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State is the
lowest of three tiers of government minister in the government of the United Kingdom
, junior to a Minister
of State and the more senior Secretary of
State. Like most Ministers of State, holders do not sit
in
cabinet, although they may
be members of a
cabinet committee.
They are bound by the
Ministerial
Code of conduct.
Although this position is the most junior ministerial office,
Parliamentary Private
Secretaries, who are unpaid helpers, are more junior
still.
