Pleione ( , from the Greek Πληιόνη, later Πλειόνη) was an Oceanid nymph. She lived in a southern region of Greecemarker called Arcadiamarker, on a mountain named Mount Kyllinimarker. She married Atlas and gave birth to the Hyades, Hyas and the Pleiades.

The Pleiades

These seven daughters were thought to have committed suicide, either over their father's death, or their sibling's (the Hyades).
