The Population Reference Bureau (PRB), a nonprofit organization, informs people around the world about population, health, and the environment, and seeks to help them use that information. PRB is located in Washington, DCmarker. It was founded in 1929 by Guy Irving Burch, with support of Raymond Pearl.

The Organization focuses on 7 core themes: reproductive health and fertility, global health, children and families, population and the environment, and population futures (which includes aging, inequality and poverty, migration and urbanization, and gender).

PRB analyzes complex demographic data and research to provide the most objective, accurate, and up-to-date population information in formats easily understood by advocates, educators, students, journalists, and decisionmakers. Selected PRB publications are also translated into Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

PRB's annual World Population Data Sheet is a double-sided wallchart that presents data from 200 countries on important demographic and health variables such as total population, fertility rates, infant mortality rates, HIV/AIDS prevalence, and contraceptive use.

PRB's online DataFinder [381506] allows users to search a database of hundreds of demographic, health, economic, and environment variables for countries, world regions, and states in the United States.

PRB Discuss Online [381507] is an ongoing series of online discussions with demographic experts covering population, health, and environment topics.
