Many scenes from the film Napoleon Dynamite (2004) were filmed in Preston High School, making it a popular attraction for tourists. Every student featured in the film is included in the credits, making it the largest credited extras list in film history.

Notable Alumni

Samuel P. Cowley, (July 23, 1899 – November 27, 1934) was an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation who was killed in the line of duty in a gunfight with Lester Gillis ("Baby Face Nelson") in 1934 near Barrington, Illinois.

Ezra Taft Benson(August 4, 1899 – May 30, 1994) was the thirteenth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1985 until his death and was United States Secretary of Agriculture for both terms of the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Jared Hess cowrote Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre, and Gentlemen Broncos with his wife, Jerusha.
