Robin Green is an Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning Americanmarker television producer, best known as an executive producer of the HBO series, The Sopranos, with which she was associated from season one.

Early life

A Rhode Islandmarker native, Green earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Literature from Brown Universitymarker, and a Master of Fine Arts from the Iowa Writers' Workshopmarker at the University of Iowamarker.


She began her TV career later in life, after years in such endeavors as Rolling Stone magazine journalist, waitress, magazine editor, ditch digger, computer programmer, elevator operator in a meat-packing plant, and Specialist 4th Class, US Army. In 1968, she worked as Marvel Comics' secretary-receptionist, and "Gal Friday" for editor-in-chief Stan Lee.Green, Robin, "Face Front! Green has written and produced for such series as Northern Exposure, A Year in the Life and Almost Grown, and wrote the Showtime TV movie Critical Choices.


Green won an Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards for her work on the CBS series Northern Exposure. She was awarded the 2001 and 2003 Emmys for Best Writing of a Drama Series for episodes of The Sopranos, as well 2004 for Outstanding Drama Series. In addition she also has won two Peabody Awards and a Golden Globe for that show.


Green is married to her The Sopranos co-writer Mitchell Burgess.
