Rochester is a borough in Beaver

. Located 25 miles (40 km) northwest of
Pittsburgh
, it is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan
area. The population was 4,014 at the
2000 census.
Like many places in and around Pittsburgh and especially Beaver
County, Rochester has been used for scenes in movies. Scenes in the
1986 movie
Gung Ho (starring
Pittsburgh native
Michael Keaton) and
the 1996 movie
Kingpin
(starring
Woody Harrelson,
Randy Quaid, and
Bill
Murray) were both shot in Rochester.

States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of
0.7 square miles (1.8 km²), of which, 0.6 square
miles (1.5 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles
(0.3 km²) of it (17.14%) is water.
Demographics

census of 2000, there are 4,014
people, 1,732 households, and 971 families residing in the borough.
The population density is 2,626.8/km² (6,861.5/mi²). There are
1,900 housing units at an average density of 1,243.4 persons/km²

There were 1,732 households out of which 25.6% had children under
the age of 18 living with them, 37.3% were
married couples living together, 14.7% had a female
householder with no husband present, and 43.9% were non-families.
37.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.7% had
someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average
household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.97.
In the borough the population was spread out with 21.6% under the
age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45
to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age
was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 85.5 males. For
every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.3 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $30,970, and
the median income for a family was $39,805. Males had a median
income of $28,906 versus $21,576 for females. The
per capita income for the borough was

poverty line, including 14.4%
