Rear Admiral (Two Star)
Ronnie
Tay (born 2 October 1963) is the former Chief of the
Republic of Singapore
Navy (RSN). During his naval career, his appointments included
Commanding Officer, RSS Sea Lion; Commander, 188th Squadron;
Commander, 1st Flotilla; Head Naval Intelligence; and Fleet
Commander. RADM Tay stepped down from the post of Chief of Navy on
31 August 2007. His position as Chief of Navy was handed over to
Rear Admiral (One Star)
Chew Men
Leong.
On 19 November 2007, RADM Tay became the CEO of the
Infocomm Development
Authority Of Singapore,.
RADM Tay joined the
Singapore
Armed Forces (SAF) on 21 December 1981, and was awarded the
prestigious SAF Overseas Scholarship in 1982.
He holds a Master of Arts degree
in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford
in the United Kingdom
, and a Master of
Science degree in Management from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology
in the United States
. Prior to joining the Navy, RADM Tay studied
at
Anglo-Chinese School and
Anglo-Chinese Junior
College.
RADM Tay is married to Leah Teo Sock Hong and has two sons.
