Sara Hilary Haines (born September 18, 1977 in Des Moines, Iowamarker) is a correspondent at NBC News Today Show, a position she has held since May 2009.

As a correspondent, Haines hosts Backstage Pass and also appears regularly during the weekday broadcast to report on technology and internet trends. She reports daily during the fourth hour covering the Today Show on Facebook and Twitter. She has also appeared in several fashion segments.

On air Haines is often referred to as "Sara Sage" a nickname given to her by Kathie Lee Gifford. While interviewing Gifford for Backstage Pass upon the announcement of the new fourth hour team of Hoda Kotb and Gifford, Haines shared a story about aging. Gifford felt she was "wise beyond her years" and henceforth referred to her as Sage.

Prior to becoming an NBC correspondent, Haines was the Production Coordinator for NBC's TODAY Show, a position she held from 2002 to 2009. In this role, Haines oversaw the day-to-day coordination for the production staff and the broadcast logistics at Rockefeller Centermarker in New York City, as well as on remote broadcast sites. She has written and produced several live segments for the show ranging from fashion to food. Haines has appeared on three episodes of Saturday Night Live and more than a dozen segments for the TODAY Show. Prior to joining NBC News, Haines was in NBC's elite Page Program. She worked on the production staffs of Saturday Night Live, the Rosie O'Donnell Show, the Carson Daley Show, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

Personal life

Haines was born to Richard and Sandra Haines. She has three siblings, two older sisters and a brother. Haines attended Smith Collegemarker in Northampton, Massachusettsmarker where she received a degree in Government. At Smith, Haines played basketball and volleyball. She presently enjoys training for triathlons.She resides in Manhattan.
