Sebastiano Siviglia (born
29 March 1973 in
Palizzi Marina
) is an Italian
football defender currently playing for
S.S. Lazio in Italy
.
Career
Siviglia began his career in 1989, with local side Audax Ravagnese
in
Serie D. Siviglia them spent three
seasons at
Parma, then rising up the
ranks of Italian football, but he did not make any senior
appearances with the gialloblu.
He moved
on to Nocerina, a club from the
Campania region, close to Naples
, who were at
the time playing in lower divisions. After three seasons and
almost 100 appearances with Nocerina, Siviglia transferred to
Hellas Verona where he played in
mainly
Serie B, but also made his debut in
Serie A.
Following
a short stint with Roma, Siviglia then
spent three seasons in Bergamo
with
Atalanta, before rejoining Parma in 2002. Parma, however, sent him on
loan for three years, first back to Atalanta, then to
Lecce and
Lazio.
In August 2005, Lazio opted to sign Siviglia permanently after his
loan spell and he became an important defensive option for the
biancocelesti. During his first season, Siviglia played in three
UEFA Cup matches for Lazio. In addition to
this, he has also played
UEFA
Champions League.
During
much of his time in Rome
, Siviglia
has been a first choice defensive option for Delio Rossi and has also scored goals against
the likes of Juventus and Fiorentina.
As one of the most experienced players in the squad, Siviglia has
deputized as captain on many occasions and before the start of the
2008-09 season, was selected as
vice-captain behind
Tommaso Rocchi
and
Cristian Ledesma.
