Managerial career

As manager of the national team in Israel. Scharf is forever remembered, for beating France 3-2 on French soil. This was just the glorious end of his first European cycle of the national team. What impresses most is that his tenure as a coach is historical, since defeats were transformed to draws, and the later in wins. His contract was always running for the next two years, and because of the visible improvement extensions followed.More games on which had been gained good results are a win against Poland, starting the qualifying campaign for the European Championship,as well as a sounded defeat of the Bulgarian national team, without their star Hristo Stoichkov, again in the first match of the fixtures, this time for the World Cup in France, with the presence of a strong crowdin their home stadium in Ramat Gan.The big profit of stable coaching took a proof when Austria was defeated, with an impressive score of five goals advantage, the biggest win against an arguably stronger team.On the negative side were both losses to Cyprus,as visitors, which are remembered by the fans and sport commentators.Denmark ended the experienced trainer spell as National team's bosswith an humilliating defeat,in front of a packed home stadium, reverting the five goal advantage against him.He was allowed to end inthe return leg, with another three goals difference.Under next managers the team will get shape, improving results, but the formation of the adopted UEFA member team was the unstoppable then Shlomo Scharf's work, with a prominent assistant in the face of Itzhak Shum, which later will become one of the most successful israeli coaches abroad.Contrary from the expectations after a short spell with the Tel Aviv club Maccabi marked the end of a very prominent coaching career, which is still respected in the local media, and his opinion is periodically required to define what's new and old with israeli football.
