South Staffordshire is a local government district in Staffordshire, Englandmarker. The district lies to the north and west of Wolverhamptonmarker and the West Midlands, bordering Shropshiremarker to the west and Worcestershire to the south. It contains no towns of major size and many of the settlements within the district are dormitory villages for Staffordmarker, Wolverhamptonmarker, Birminghammarker, Telfordmarker and Newport, Shropshiremarker

The district was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, by the merger of Cannock Rural Districtmarker (in the north) and Seisdon Rural Districtmarker (in the south).

Its council is based in Codsallmarker, one of the larger settlements in the district, along with Brewoodmarker, Cheslyn Haymarker, Great Wyrleymarker, Kinvermarker, Landywoodmarker, Penkridgemarker, Pertonmarker and Wombournemarker (which some claim to be "officially the largest village in England"). Other villages in the district include Essingtonmarker, Featherstonemarker, Huntingtonmarker, Lower Pennmarker, Pattinghammarker, Seisdonmarker, Trysullmarker and Coven.

The district covers a similar geographic area to South Staffordshire parliamentary constituency.

Woods in the area include Bunkers Tree Wood.
