Sri Sathya Sai Vidhya Vihar

, India. The school began functioning in the
year 1984. It was opened by the then district collector Sri Ajey
Kallam. The school began its mission mainly based on the teachings
of Bhagawan
Sri Sathya Sai
Baba.
The school is located in Sector 8, MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam. The
school has an imposing circular structure as its main building.
Also enclosed in the campus is a prayer hall(mandir) which is used
regularly for conducting religious and service activities. Though
the school is not directly affiliated with the central trust of Sri
Sathya Sai Organizations, Prasanthi Nilayam, it does receive
guidance from these quarters. It has perhaps been the most sought
after school. The school tries to educate its students with the
awareness of social and spiritual construct of the country.
The first principal was Ms. Prameela Abburi. She served in that
post from 1984 until 2000. She was succeeded by Ms. A. Kausalya,
who continues to be the principal till date.
The school runs under CBSE system of education teaching from L.K.G
through standard 10. The school has very high success rates
throughout right from its inspection. In the recent years, the
school has been achieving highest grades of the entire city. It has
evolved academically as one of the best schools in the city. There
are four different houses in the school. All students are members
of one of these houses viz. Sathya, Dharma, Shanthi and Prema. Each
of these students will be bearing yellow, red, blue and green flaps
respectively to indicate which house they belong to.
The school has also got an active alumni organization called as
Students of Sai(SOS). As stated in the website
"Students of
Sai" of the organization, the main mission behind this
organization is to serve the needy and assist newer generations of
students.
The school's morning assembly includes, talks by teachers, students
etc. Every Thursday there will be a bhajan session which is in line
with the activities of Sri Sathya Sai Organizations. Other days
morning assembly includes singing songs of all the religions,
chanting of hymns etc. The school strictly promotes the unity of
religions. The school recently had its silver jubilee
celebrations.
