Tamasha is an Urdu word for the noun 'show', or 'spectacle'. It is also used to convey a similar meaning as the word 'drama' does for the behaviour of a 'drama queen'.

In the state of Maharashtramarker, India, Tamasha is a traditional folk art form, often with singing and dancing, widely performed by local or traveling theatre groups.

Traditionally, Marathi cinema has involved tamasha and many premier actresses, including Sandhya and Jayshree Gadkar amongst others have played parts/ roles of tamasha artists. Some Hindi movies have also included "tamasha" songs in the past.

In colloquial Hindi, the term tamasha is used to refer to a commotion, or any activity or display with bustle and excitement, sometimes ironically in the sense of "a tempest in a teacup."

In Telugu, the language of the citizens of Andra Pradesh, "tamasha" means funny.
