Thanassis Cambanis ( ; born
March 26,
1974) is a journalist
based in New York City. He is writing a book about Hezbollah for
Free Press, a division of Simon and Schuster, and contributes to
GlobalPost.com. He has reported for
The New York Times in the Middle
East. He was formerly a bureau chief for
The Boston Globe
Before moving to the Middle East, Cambanis covered Federal courts
for the
Globe.
Thanassis previously worked as a reporter in
Greece
and Indonesia
for the Associated
Press.
Personal
Cambanis
is a graduate of the University of
North Carolina, Chapel Hill
, where he was editor of The Daily Tar Heel.
In 2000,
he received a master's degree in public administration and
international relations from Princeton University
.
Cambanis is married to Anne Barnard, currently a metropolitan
reporter on the staff of
The New York Times
