The Night That Made America Famous is a
musical written by
folk singer Harry
Chapin.
After fourteen previews, the production
opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre
on February 26, 1975 and closed on April 6 of that
year, after 75 performances. Chapin's brothers Tom and
Stephen, in addition to being featured performers, were also in the
pit. The production also included a young
Lynne Thigpen.
