Tom Pelphrey (born July 28, 1982, Howell Township, New Jerseymarker) is an Americanmarker actor.

Early years

Pelphrey graduated from Howell High Schoolmarker in 2000, and from Rutgers Universitymarker (Mason Gross School of the Arts) in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Career

Guiding Light

Pelphrey's most notable role has been the role of Jonathan Randall the son of Reva Shayne and her late former husband, Richard Winslow, on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light. He joined the cast in September 2004 and received critical acclaim for his portrayal of anti-hero Jonathan.

He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Younger Actor" in 2005, and won the award the following year in April 2006. He received a third consecutive nomination in the same category in 2007 but lost out to Bryton McClure. Pelphrey won his second Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Younger Actor" in 2008.

His character's popular romantic relationship with Tammy Layne Winslow (Stephanie Gatschet) was the subject of great controversy, as the characters were first cousins and siblings by adoption. Jonathan got drunk and got Lizzie Spaulding pregnant. Tammy promised Jonathan to help take care of the child. The baby was named "Sarah". Alan Spaulding, the baby's Great-Grandfather puts a hit on Jonathan's head which led to Tammy pushing Jonathan out of the way and dying off the show. Jonathan faked his and Sarah's death to escaped from Alan Spaulding. In 2007 Jonathan made a guest appearance. In August of 2009 Jeffery O'Neil who had been chasing after Edmund passed out in Jonathan's yard and that marked Jonathan's return to the show. After he and Jeffrey chased after Edmund he eventually returned home to Springfield along with Sarah to reconcile with his mother and let Lizzie see her daughter, with custody papers for shared custody. On September 18 2009, Guiding Light ended after over 70 years of broadcasts.

As The World Turns

Tom signed a contract to play "Mick" on As The World Turns beginning in October 2009.

Primetime television

On March 30, 2007, he appeared in an episode of Numb3rs, "Pandora's Box". [104968]On October 17th 2008 he appeared in an episode of "Ghost Whisperer".

Theatre

From September 6, 2007 to September 30, 2007, Pelphrey performed in Kevin Mandel's A New Television Arrives, Finally as the title character, at Theatre 54, in New York.

Personal life

Pelphrey dated former Guiding Light co-star, Gina Tognoni, from February 2005 to November 2005. He is now dating former Guiding Light co-star Stephanie Gatschet.
