Tom Young (born September 17, 1932) is a basketball coach best known for being head coach at American Universitymarker when the now-infamous Kermit Washington played at the school in the 1970s. He would also coach at Rutgers Universitymarker, Catholic University, and Old Dominion Universitymarker. At Rutgers Young was coach of the 1976 Scarlet Knights, a team noted for having an undefeated regular season record and participating in the NCAA Final Four. Young also served as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association under Head Coach Eddie Jordan, who was a player on the 1976 Rutgers team.

Under Young, Washington evolved into an All-American, and went to the NBA.
