Triplemanía is a major professional wrestling event in Mexicomarker promoted by the Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and generally presented as the Super Bowl of the AAA. The name is derived from the pronunciation of "AAA", "Triple A" and WrestleMania (World Wrestling Entertainment's biggest show of the year). The first show took place in Mexico Citymarker on April 30, 1993 and attracted 48,000 people, setting the all-time attendance record for a Mexican wrestling event. The first show was held in 1993 and since then 23 events have been held, the more recent ones presented on pay-per-view while the early shows were shown as Television specials on the Televisa channel. In 1994, 1995 and 1996 AAA promoted three shows each year as the "Triplemania series", in 1997 AAA promoted two shows under the Triplemania banner. Triplemania has been held in Mexico, the United Statesmarker and Japanmarker, with most events (4) being held in Naucalpanmarker, Mexico Statemarker. As is tradition with AAA major events the wrestlers compete inside a hexagonal wrestling ring and not the four sided ring the promotion uses for television events and house shows.

Background

The event featured a number of professional wrestling matches with different wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds, plots and storylines. Wrestlers were portrayed as either villains (referred to as rudos in Mexico) or fan favorites (técnicos in Mexico) as they followed a series of tension-building events, which culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.

TripleMania I

TripleMania I (Initially just referred to as just "TripleMania") was the first ever TripleMania wrestling show promoted by Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA). The show took place on April 30, 1993 in Mexico Citymarker, Mexicomarker. The Main event featured a "Retirement" match where the storyline was that the person that lost would have to retire from professional wrestling. The match saw longtime rivals Konnan and Cien Caras face off.
