who is from Brampton.
Davis is the only school in the Peel District School Board to have
the
International
Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) available to grade 7
and 8 students. Around 400-500 students apply each year for the
program, but only about 50-60 students are selected. The program
offers an intensive and challenging curriculum. The school is also
host to an Extended French Immersion program, as well as a
hard-of-hearing class.
Its staff supervise extra-curricular activities for the students.
The school offers clubs such as chess, bands (instrumental),
choirs, and student parliament. Davis is also the home to many
sports teams, including basketball, flag football, 3-pitch,
volleyball, soccer, cross-country running, track and field, and
badminton. The Music Program at Davis is also known in its area and
district for its excellency.There are 2 ensembles, a jazz band and
three choirs. The teachers in charge of the music department are
Anthony Kershaw and Erica Mcnabb
Also, the school has many educational competitions, including the
Guass Math Contest for grades 7 and 8, the CHAMP Math Contest, the
Math Olympics, and the Science fair, in which groups are chosen to
go to the Peel Regional Science Fair and then, the National Science
Fair of Canada. The results of the 2009 Champ Math competition
include 1st, 3rd and 5th overall in all of Peel, and students from
the school have been selected to attend the National Science Fair
of Canada on various occasions, many times bringing back
awards.
The school has a winnit system that gives students one winnit for
each team, club or activity the student is involved in. At the end
of grade 8, if the student has received over 20 winnits during
their two years at the school, they are awarded a Davis
medallion.
