Armageddon was a
professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by
World Wrestling Entertainment.
The event began in December 1999, and followed the
Survivor Series pay-per-view in November.
The event was held in December every year, except for 2001, when it
was replaced with
Vengeance.
From 2004 to 2006 the event was exclusive to the
SmackDown! brand, with the 2003
event being exclusive to the
Raw brand. The
official Armageddon theme song is called "The End", which
originally appeared on
WWE
Anthology Disc 3. The song was composed by the WWE's music
producer,
Jim Johnston. "The
End" has continuously been remade/remixed since the original
version (on Anthology) was used during the opening montage for the
2000 event, including an extended version reaching nearly seven
minutes in length that has been the mainstay theme for the past few
Armageddon PPVs. The extended version was made available for
purchase and download on WWE.com, then later available on the album
WWE The Music, Vol.
7.
In 2009, it was announced that an event called
TLC: Tables, Ladders &
Chairs will replace Armageddon. TLC: Tables, Ladders &
Chairs will be an all new event and not a continuation of
Armageddon's lineage or legacy.
