Walter George Tarrant (8 April 187518 March 1942) was a builder born in Brockhurst, Hampshire, Englandmarker. He was responsible for constructing excellent housing in Weybridgemarker, Byfleetmarker, Pyrfordmarker, Wokingmarker and Virginia Watermarker, where he pioneered the Wentworth Estatemarker.

In 1895 he set up his own building company in the town of Byfleet and in the early 1900s built extensively in Pyrford, West Byfleetmarker and Wokingmarker. in 1911 he bought of Surreymarker scrubland from the Egertons, the family of Lord Ellesmere which he developed into the St George's Hillmarker estate. His company went into receivership in 1932 as a result of The Depression. However Tarrant Builders Limited, the building arm of the company, persisted and work on St George's Hillmarker continued until the 1940s.

Tarrant died in Wales in 1942 as a result of a coronary thrombosis.
