 (William) Neville Welch was the inaugural Bishop of Bradwell from 1968 to 1973. Born on 30 April 1906 he was educated at Dean Close School, Cheltenhammarker and Keble College, Oxfordmarker and studied for ordination at Wycliffe Hall, Oxfordmarker  before a curacy in Kidderminstermarker. From 1934 he was Secretary to the Mission to Seamen. Following this he was Vicar of Graysmarker then Ilfordmarker; Rural Dean of Barkingmarker; and finally, before his elevation to the Episcopate, Archdeacon of Southendmarker. He retired to Withammarker and died on 3 February 1999.
