World music awards are awards presented by broadcasting organizations such as the BBC and others to world music artists. The BBC presented awards from 2005 to 2008. In response to the BBC's decision to stop the Awards for World Music in 2008, Songlines, the world music magazine, launched the Songlines Music Awards in 2009 http://www.songlines.co.uk/awards2009
