Young Blades is an historical fantasy television series that aired on PAX (now Ion Television) from January to June 2005, lasting only thirteen episodes before cancellation. Set in 17th century Francemarker, it followed the adventures of four Musketeers:

Other main characters include the Musketeers' leader, Captain Duval; Queen Anne; Cardinal Mazarin; and a fifteen-year-old Louis XIV. The latter three characters are based on historical figures.

Despite its short-lived nature, it has developed something of a cult following.

Series Finale

The final episode of the series, "Secrets," remains controversial among the fans for several reasons:

  • Its gratuitous use of flashbacks.
  • Its (some say confusing) plotline in which Jacqueline and d'Artagnan meet Alexandre Dumas
  • The fact that it left many things unresolved.

DVD Releases

There are currently no plans to release the series on DVD.

Young Blades (2001)

A television pilot of the same title was filmed in 2001. Starring Hugh Dancy, it followed the adventures of the Musketeers d'Artagnan, Porthos, Athos, and Aramis. It was never aired.
